Process Improvement:

It is no secret that the design and execution of well-conceived processes is critical to success, yet many organizations have a multitude of inefficient or poorly executed processes which are not well understood and have simply "evolved" over time. Common symptoms of this include waste (labor and materials), excess motion, underutilized staff, excess or insuffient inventory, delays & bottlenecks (wait time), rework, and ultimately poor customer satisfaction (complaints and defections).

With over 12 years of experience, our methodology has been successfully implemented across a wide range of industry settings, and consists of the following basic steps:

  • Establishing baseline process performance indicators (e.g. cycle time, % within target)
  • Mapping and observing "as-is" process, highlighting delays, waste, failpoints, and other forms of waste or non-value added activities
  • Chartering and facilitating a cross-functional process improvement team to prioritize process "fail-points", identify root-causes, and develop team-based action plan to address these root causes
  • Provide a new standard operating process (process flow diagram); support the development of more detailed procedures
  • Monitor performance indicators to assess measurable impact

This process often requires only four to five days of consulting effort (according to scope of process) and we can help train your internal staff to replicate this methodology for other processes for more leveraged results. The results typically offer a significant and measurable return on investment.
